BETWEEN BARLEY FIELDS AND PARKING LOTS

wind ravaged hillsides ablaze with the dying star
hold rustling barley
that prays for the rain to wait

black top
heat radiating
screech of brakes leaves a muffler in the intersection
all has become chaos

the snicker of the francolin brightens up the morning
foretells the coming sun
and still no rain on the horizon

traffic jam
constant horns
the gas station takes half our salary
all has been forgotten

and now i stand
stuck between barley fields and parking lots
joy and loss
the real world and the dream

BROKEN SECRETS

deafening trickle of rain
oh how you haunt me
i cannot hear myself think
i cannot feel myself love
imprisoned in your noise
i scream
to whoever will hear me to whatever will shut you up

sheet upon sheet upon sheet upon sheet
you fall
i feel you on my skull i feel you on my sulcus
get out of my brain
my memories
i wish no one to be lurking there
i shut those corridors long ago
you have no place there
get the fuck out
and leave them closed

sudden silence

is that a break in your chaos
will you give me time
to think
to breathe
to hide that which should not be found

i thought not

your torrential drizzle maddens
that one part of my brain you have not probed
with your liquid tendrils and your malicious intent you find my cracks
and i can hold you off no longer

the lock breaks
the sigils fall
all of my secrets pour forth
from my past
my hand
my mouth

i am open
read me like some discarded paper on the subway
some seven year old magazine you found under your sofa
some prescription bottle you found in the dumpster
and see what you dredge up

my colors run
my words blur
your ferocity washes away my life

my secrets are no longer safe
you broke them free
